My background
My background is not the one people spontaneously associate with financial
services. I first studied mechanical engineering, then spent close to
eight years in mechanical design before going on to a bachelor's degree
in robotics engineering at Université de Sherbrooke. Alongside that, I
completed university training in entrepreneurship and built my own
company, 3DVertical. Those experiences taught me to analyse a situation,
understand its constraints, compare options and decide from concrete
data.
One thing has always mattered in the choices I have made, and that is freedom. The
freedom to choose my projects, to seize an opportunity when it comes up,
and to change direction without financial considerations constantly
getting in the way. My time as an entrepreneur taught me, however, that
this freedom does not come from worrying less about your finances, but
from structuring them well enough that you no longer have to think about
them all the time.
As a self-employed worker, I ran straight into realities like variable
income, business expenses, saving, investing, debt, and the absence of
certain benefits that employees take for granted. So I became
increasingly interested in how solid protection and sound financial
organisation let you keep more control when something unexpected
happens. Knowing that certain risks are covered and that your finances
are structured frees up energy for your projects, your family, and what
actually matters to you.
That line of thinking is what eventually led me to insurance of persons,
and to iA Financial Group. I found there an approach close to my own way
of seeing things. First understand a person's situation, identify what
could genuinely derail their plans, then put the right protection and
strategies in place. The goal is not simply to anticipate what could go
wrong, but to make sure an unexpected event has as little impact as
possible on the choices available tomorrow.
Today I bring to my files the same analytical approach I developed over my
years in design, in entrepreneurship and in my robotics engineering
studies. Having owned a business also gives me a concrete grasp of
several issues self-employed workers and entrepreneurs face.
Outside work, I remain deeply involved in robotics and technology
projects, including COBEQ. Music holds an important place in my life as well, as do
training and the outdoors. Fields that look quite different on the
surface, but that all reflect the same thing. I like learning, building
projects, and keeping the freedom to pursue what interests me.
